REGIONAL EVENTS

 

We have partnered with Wash for A Cause, which is a program that donates money to AFMDA while giving you a clean car.  We are currently raising funds for a new Blood Donation Center in the Holon MDA Emergency Station.  Funds raised will be assisting this campaign.  To participate, please go to www.washforacause.com/MagenDavidAdomBoston to make a donation and receive a voucher for a car wash.

AFMDA New England Representative Burt Klein presented a Red Bag of Courage to Noah Garberg from Lexington, MA for raising over $2,000 by asking family and friends to donate money to AFMDA in lieu of a gift.

 

Young entrepreneurs from Newton, MA, baked some chocolate chip cookies and set up a business at the corner of their street near the synagogue, offering free cookies for a donation to AFMDA.

Boston College professor Susan Tohn donated blood while touring an MDA Station in Tel Aviv .  Her husband, Jordan Oshlag, is in the background.

Anita and Don Kaufman of Narragansett, RI, donated an ambulance in honor of the birth of their twin grandsons.

 

Burt Klein, AFMDA New England Representative, presented Certificates of Appeciation to US MDA volunteers (left to right) Daniel Saxe, Yedidya Ben-Avie, and Ari Winograd at the 22nd Annual Temple Emanuel Brotherhood HanukaHappens Concert In Newton, MA. Proceeds of the concert have been benefitting AFMDA for over ten years.

 

 

An ambulance dedication was held at Congregation Kehilleth Israel in Brookline, MA.  With the nursery school students are Executive Director Scott Allen, Nursery School Director Carol Killian, and New AFMDA New England Representative Burt Klein.

AFMDA New England Rep Burt Klein made a presentation to Hagit Ben-Akiva, who is holding the Red Bag of Courage, surrounded by Principal Karen Hayett and religious school students from Temple Israel in Natick MA.

AFMDA New England Rep Burt Klein and Bill Costa, New Hampshire Outreach, represented AFMDA at a Stand-For-Israel Rally in Manchester, NH.  Shown are Bill Costa and Elaine Taku, wife of Rev. Fumio Taku, President of Christians and Jews United For Israel.  She and her husband were seriously hurt in a car accient in the Golan in 2008 and were saved by MDA EMTs.

 

Long time AFMDA supporters were recognized for their service and support of MDA at a private reception in Providence Rhode Island.  Guests heard about the latest developments at MDA including emergency preparedness protocols.  Kelly Anne Smith discussed the latest political developments in the Middle East and how the recent Arab Spring Uprisings will effact Isarel. Three busloads of campers from the Cohen Camps in the Boston area visited the MDA Station in Nahariya.

The Brotherhood of Temple Emanuel in Newton, MA presented a check to AFMDA Boston Board member Rosian Zerner after its 21st Annual HanukaHappens Concert.  This is the 10th year that they have donated proceeds to MDA. In the front row, Brotherhood Co-chair Alan Nissenbaum presents a check to Rosian Zerner.  Surrounding them are Dennis Buchenholz, Robert Finkel, Marc Lowenthal, Joyce Bohnen, Adam Weitzman, and Temple Cantor Elias Rosenberg.

Mr. and Mrs. Joey Russell from the Golan Chapter in New Haven, CT, receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at Joey's 90th Birthday Brunch held in Orange, CT.

Hostess Olga Serebrennikov is displaying some of Boston Friends greatest accomplishments at a Dessert Reception at her home.  Also helping with the presentation were Burton Klein, AFMDA New England Representative and MDA Overseas paramedic Daniel Saxe.
