Western Region Director Yossi Mentz had a chance to see the new MDA helpicopter, just two days after it went into service and just 30 minutes before it's first use.

The 2011 General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America was held in Denver, CO from Nov 6-8.  In the left photo are Western Region Director Yossi Mentz, MDA paramedic Alon Fridman, AFMDA Director of Marketing & Communications Robert Kern, MDA General Director Eli Bin, AFMDA CEO Arnold Gerson, and AFMDA Asst. Director of Marketing & Communications Marcelle May.  In the right photo, Evergreen, CO residents Scott and Michael Amdur and MDA paramedic Uri Shacham stand before the ambulance which was on display during the convention, donated by the Virterbi and Smargon families of San Diego, CA in memory of Marla Bennett.

 

 

 

Andrew and Ema Viterbi received the Marla Bennett Humanitarian Award at the 7th Annual Marla Bennett Friends Society event in La Jolla, CA, in memory of Marla Bennett, who was murdered during a terror attack at Hebrew University in 2002.  The entertainer at the event was Rod Gilfrey, world renown opera and Broadway singer.   On the left, the Viterbis receive the award from Jackie Gmach, event chair.  On the right, they receive a mazel tov from the parents of the late Marla Bennett, Linda and Michael.

 

 

 

Gary & Shirley Ravet and Linda & Michael Bennett dedicate a MICU in memory of Marla Bennett who was murdered during a terror attack at Hebrew University in 2002.  Funds were raised at the 2010 Marla Bennett Friends Society event honoring Shirley, Manny, and Gary Ravet. 

 

Students from the San Diego Jewish Academy get a chance to see an ambulance donated in memory of Marla Bennett before being shipped to Israel.  Amongst the students are MDA paramedic Charley Jaffe and Western Regional Director Yossi Mentz.

 

Dr. and Mrs. Eli Weil and family dedicated an ambulance in memory of Jack Weil at the Jewish High School of the Bay in San Francisco.  Jack went to Israel only one time, vowed to return, and died prematurely.

David Wiener and his family dedicated an ambulance in memory of Hanna and Moshe Haim at the Mosaic Event.

 

Members of LA's Diverse Jewish Community were honored at the Mosaic Event.  Honored were Max Farber, Barak Raviv, The Victor Family, David and Lila (z"l) Wiener and Sam Yebri.  A dedication for David Wiener's Mobile Intensive Care Unit took place prior to the event.  Phil Blazer of Jewish Life TV served as Honorary Chair and MC and David Suissa, Jewish Journal columnist, was the main speaker.

Student choir from Peninsula Temple Shalom in Burlingame, CA led by Cantor Barry Reich entertain AFMDA donors at the home of Israel Consul General of Pacific Northwest Region Akiva Tor and his wife, Naomi.

 

Western Region Director Ellen Rofman presents the 70 for 70 award to Sister Gabriella on behalf of Sister Deborah, who moved to Germany.

 

Western Region Director Ellen Rofman presents the 70 for 70 award to Frances Horn of Phoenix. She and her late husband were instrumental in building the Arizona Friends Society.
