American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) invites all young supporters to help save lives in Israel by participating in our Red Bag of Courage mitzvah project, designed for youth or student groups, and children celebrating bar and bat mitzvahs. |
AFMDA is the authorized fundraising and advocacy organization in the US supporting the lifesaving efforts of Magen David Adom (MDA) in Israel, which provides Israel’s pre-hospital emergency medical needs including disaster, ambulance and blood services. The Red Bag is a replica of the paramedic’s kit which is used by all MDA volunteer “first responders” when racing to the scene and responding to terror attacks, missles, car accidents, illnesses, heart attacks, childbirth and more. MDA also provides 97% of Israel's blood needs, including 100% of the Israel Defense Force's blood requirements.
Participants that raise at least $1,000 – the cost of a fully-stocked red first responder’s bag filled with emergency equipment such as bandages, oxygen and inhalation masks, respiratory apparatus, blood pressure meter, needles and syringes, blood transfusion kits and more - will receive one monogrammed RED BAG per person or group as a special thank you from AFMDA. You can use the bag for vacations or the gym, or take the mitzvah even further and present it to your school. |

Be creative to raise money! You can allocate a portion of your bar or bat mitzvah gift money, or work with peers in a youth group or at school to organize walk-a-thons, bike-a-thons, car washes, bake sales, sporting events, babysitting services, making and selling crafts, yard sales, etc. You can also send out emails and letters to their friends and family.
Whatever project you or your group choose, AFMDA will be there to guide you! |
